Jack Lugar who lives in Fishers, Indiana with his wife (Elisabeth) and three kids is running for the U.S. House of Representatives. Jack is an everyday American who has run a formidable campaign gaining the respect of his community as he seeks the nomination to represent Hoosiers in Washington D.C. Throughout Jack's congressional candidacy he has been referred to as Dick Lugar's son and then as having absolutely no relation to the Senator. As I read the news I realize that reporters make things up when they are writing or reporting a story because our campaign has only been called twice to ask the relation and yet I read of the "extensive research" these reporters have done when they say there is absolutely no relation.

Jack is an everyday American who has run a formidable campaign gaining the respect of his community as he seeks the nomination to represent Hoosiers in Washington D.C.

Throughout Jack’s congressional candidacy he has been referred to as Dick Lugar’s son and then as having absolutely no relation to the Senator. We have only been called twice about the relationship and yet reporters often say they have done extensive research to find out if Congressional Candidate Jack Lugar is related to Senator Dick Lugar.

When Jack is asked of his relation to Senator Lugar, he often comments, “you may be more closely related than I am.” Jack’s parents recently moved and when they were cleaning out their attic they came across old family photos and detailed family charts. This is why I know the connection between Jack Lugar and Dick Lugar. Both Senator Richard Lugar and Congressional Candidate Jack Lugar share a 3x-Great Grandfather whose name was Joseph Lugar Sr.. “Joseph Lugar Sr. moved to Grant County, Indiana in 1829 settling on Lugar Creeek in Monroe Township where he resided a number of years, after which in 1848 he moved to Washington Township where he died from a fall off a barn which he was helping to raise.” (Genealogy of the Lugar Family, 12) Heritage is important because it tells our history.

Jack Lugar has gained the respect of the people in Indiana’s 5th Congressional District because of his commitment to his community, his ability to listen, and his ability to communicate. Jack has been regularly meeting with everyday Americans, like himself, for the past 9 months. Like Jack they want change in Washington. People in the Republican Party weren’t sure what to expect from Jack, yet, after the debates throughout the 5th District, Jack’s message for job creation, energy independence, and deficit reduction resonates. Jack is accessible and he listens to those in the community about what is important to them. because it is the people in the community who he will be representing in Washington.

That is why when John R. (Jack) Lugar, attorney and real estate broker, was asked to run for Congress he answered the call for new representation. Jack Lugar is the everyday American who has deeply held Republican views but is not beholden to the political establishment. He firmly believes it is time for the Republican Party to grow the base by reaching out to the next generation.

In 2011 Jack Lugar, a 6th generation Hoosier, who was born and raised in Indianapolis and now lives in Fishers, was one of the first candidates to answer the call for new leadership in Washington. A pro-life conservative Republican, Jack is endorsed by Indiana Right to Life. In answering the call of Hoosiers for new representation, Jack will represent Indiana’s interests in creating job growth by cutting oppressive regulations, creating a comprehensive plan for energy independence, and fighting to reduce taxes.

Jack has always brought his principles, passion, and work ethic to his professional life and community. Currently an attorney with The Foster Group, Jack’s experience in representing businesses, government entities, and individuals has exposed him to many of the issues that Hoosiers struggle with on a daily basis. This experience has deepened his commitment to loosening regulations on small businesses in order to help them grow and create jobs. Jack also owns a real estate brokerage firm located in Fishers, Lugar Real Estate, LLC, and is committed to protecting home ownership as a means of strengthening communities.

Jack is an everyday American who is dedicated to reducing the size of our government and championing grassroots private sector projects to serve communities. He currently sits on the institutional revie

While Jack believes in, and is committed to, the responsibility of the private sector to provide solutions for many of this country’s challenges, he believes there are areas where the federal government can effectively partner with the private sector to better serve its citizens. Along this line, Jack is committed to providing better resources for veterans through a program he will propose called the Veterans Introduction Program (VIP). Through VIP, businesses and community leaders will partner with the government to offer a 12 month re-introduction work program for our returning military by placing them with mentors and in businesses.

Jack received a J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, an M.A. in Media Management from Regent University, a B.A. in Communication Studies from Taylor University, attended North Central High School, and graduated from Heritage Christian School. He was admitted to the Indiana Bar and U.S. District Court, Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana in 2009.

Jack is also a member of the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors (MIBOR), National Association of Realtors (NAR), and Indianapolis Bar Association. In addition, he is a member of the Writers Guild of America.

Jack and his wife of 20 years, Elisabeth, have three children; Callista, Ethan, and Conrad who attend the Hamilton Southeastern schools. They are deeply committed to serving their community and regularly volunteer time at their children’s schools. Jack has enjoyed the opportunity to coach his son in the S.P.O.R.T.S and FYHA leagues. In addition, Jack and Elisabeth are active members of BridgeWay Community Church in Fishers, Indiana.

As a 6th generation Hoosier who lives, works, and serves in this community, Jack Lugar will take his Midwestern values and the strength of his conviction to Congress.

I attended a Republican Issues Forum tonight and really liked what I heard. I especially liked what Jack Lugar had to say about raising up new leaders, creating jobs, reducing the deficit, making our country energy independent, and a program he would like to propose called the Veteran’s Reintroduction Program (VIP) helping Veterans assimilate into a business culture pairing Veterans with mentors and ultimately creating jobs for our returning Veterans and those leaving the military looking for work in the private sector.

I am passionate about our country and providing a better future for our children. One issue was raised that didn’t allow for the candidates to respond because it was stated in one of the candidates final rebuttals. The issue raised was, how does the Republican party reach out to minorities and get them excited about the party. I didn’t like the answer I heard and wanted to interrupt the meeting, yet, I didn’t. I chewed on the response a bit and have digested the comments made.

I believe the way to inspire anyone, not just minorities, outside the Republican party to want to be excited about the values and core beliefs of the Republican party is to authentically respect each person as an individual. The goal is to listen. My dad is the Executive Director of The New York City Rescue Mission and he has set an excellent example on how to respect and listen to people, moreover, he has worked to create better lives for all those who come to the mission. That same kind of respect for humanity needs to be at the core of the Republican and Democrat Parties.

We all live in America. At some point in the past our ancestors immigrated to the United States and had to assimilate into the American culture. What makes America so great is that we are constantly gaining new American citizens. Yes, there becomes a “majority” and “minority,” yet, we are all Americans striving to make our country a better place. We need to listen and learn from one another so our country will remain a great place to live.

I occasionally work with students teaching them English as a Second Language and while there are some challenges they face in sentence structure, they are amazing people who are constantly teaching me about dedication and bravery as they assimilate into American culture just like my dad’s family did in the 1890′s and my mom’s family did as far back as we can trace into the 1700′s.

A plug for Jack Lugar for Congress: Visit JackLugar.com or LugarforCongress.com and after reading about what he stands for I guarantee you will want to vote him in as the next U.S. House of Representative for Indiana’s new 5th Congressional District. The best ways you can support him is through donations for signs, car magnets, radio spots, and television advertisement.

It's funny how words like "entertain" can evoke either a negative or positive feeling.
I heard a politician this morning say that we don’t need an entertainer in office, let them stick to the entertainment industry. What we need is someone who understands business not one who entertains the people. While I agree it is crucial that we have a successful business person in office, a leader must be able to inspire, encourage, stimulate, and entertain. The entertainment industry is one of the few industries that doesn’t suffer (or suffer as much) during a depression or recession and continues to create jobs. The studio’s obviously understand something about business and that goes for the entertainers who manage successful careers in such a competitive field.

It’s funny how words like “entertain” can evoke either a negative or positive feeling. Similarly, people have a reaction to the word lawyer, attorney, realtor, car salesman, doctor, politician, teacher, stay-at-home mom, and the list goes on. It would be great if we could look at each person and situation as an individual instead of stereotyping an entire profession.

Whoever our next president is, he must not only be an excellent business person, he must be able to entertain.

Having made it to 20 years of marriage I feel like I’ve accomplished something. Navigating relationships can be very difficult, especially in the midst of raising kids and wanting to make sure everyone has their emotional and physical needs met.

I am glad for all the experiences and am glad we are once again on the verge of being able to sleep through the night without interruption. Our first child was the perfect sleeper – 2 two-hour naps a day and 12 hours of sleep a night without getting out of bed. Our second two kids didn’t/don’t sleep as much and definitely get out of bed.

In some ways I am in awe that we’ve been married 20 years and have a 4 year old. As a child I had so many ideas of how life would turn out. I thought I would have all my children by the time I was 30. Because I thought “30″ was old. I barely started having kids at 30. And, the older I get the younger age thirty, forty, fifty, etc… sound.

Life is an amazing adventure. I am glad to be on the journey with Jack Lugar, my husband of 20 years and friend of 23 years.

Believing God is sovereign and just is a step of faith. We all believe in something whether we are Atheist, Jewish, Christian, Buddhist, or Hindu. Our lives are shaped by our parents, experiences, friends, and mentors. We are first exposed to religion at a young age positively or negatively, based on our parents or caretakers worldview or belief system. As we grow we grapple with what we believe based on our experiences. As we grow the experiences that we encounter help to shape whether or not we believe God is sovereign and just and our thoughts on the Messiah. We decide whether we believe life is in all things, or we believe in reincarnation, or we believe that ultimately that there is no God/god.

The hardest aspect of believing in God comes from living in an unjust world. Why do things happen, especially when they are unjust? Why is there such disparity for some and not others? Why do some struggle and not others? I’ve been around some who have said they have never encountered this disparity. To go through life and not encounter pain or struggle? It’s hard for me to wrap my head around a person who doesn’t encounter grappling with the injustice of this world.

The question of faith and religion is ultimately personal no matter where you live. In America we have religious freedom. We can attend any church, temple, synagogue, mosque…. Ultimately faith is very personal and no matter where you live you have a choice on who and what you believe. There are some in America who attend church yet have no real faith. In other countries where there is no religious freedom, there are many who have a personal faith and yet cannot outwardly act upon their faith.

I have always approached life with the thought that what we believe is personal and no person can force another to believe in something or someone. As with anything we should be knowledgeable about what we believe. Yet, faith is just that, FAITH.

Corrie ten Boom once said, “Every experience God gives us, every person He puts in our path, is the perfect preparation for a future only He can see.”

Today I was at my son’s 4th grade basketball game and the opposing basketball coach was out of control. He reminded me of the over aggressive parents / coaches who make national .headlines. Screaming at his players, grabbing his sons shirt when he wanted to emphasize that his son didn’t make the right play, cussing at the referee’s calls…. I thought the vein in his forehead was going to explode.

I don’t believe in over zealous regulations, however, I think once you exhibit abusive behaviors on the court, especially as the coach of a 4th grade basketball team, you should have that privilege taken from you. The goal of 4th grade basketball is to merge winning with character building.

Occasionally, I teach ESL at Indy Translations in Carmel, Indiana. Currently, I am teaching a student who is 16 and from Brazil. He has a good grasp of the English language and while he was first introduced to learning English in school he obviously has a knack for learning language. Yesterday, he asked if kids in America had to learn how to say “pointed” as opposed to “washed.” It’s an interesting question. Children learn at such a young age to speak and imitate their parents or care takers that by the time a child in America enters school and begins to read, that child just naturally knows the “ed” ending and how to say the word “washed” as opposed to “pointed.”

I was talking with my husband and was reminded of Ken Robinson’s book The Element. Robinson says, “Consider, for instance, how we learn language. Learning to speak is one of the most miraculous achievements in a child’s life. It happens for most of us within our first few years. No one teaches language to us – certainly not our parents. They couldn’t possibly do that because spoken language is too complex, too subtle, and too full of variations for anyone to teach it formally to a child. Of course, parents and others guide and correct young children as they learn to speak and they may encourage and applaud them. But babies don’t learn to speak by instruction. They learn by imitation and inference. We are all born with a deep, instinctive capacity for language, which is activated almost as soon as we draw breath.”

I find it amazing how some people have an innate ability to understand and learn to speak a second language. It all starts at birth. The experiences we encounter in our first few years allow our brain to develop in amazing ways.

How to hide names and addresses in a personal distribution list:
Applies to: Microsoft Office Outlook 2007

To keep the names and e-mail addresses of people included on a personal distribution list private, or hidden, use the Bcc field.

It’s not possible to display the distribution list name in the To box, without allowing it to be expanded to show the entire list of names and e-mail addresses. Instead use the following procedure by adding the sender’s name in the To box.

*In an open message, add your e-mail address in the To box.
*In the Bcc box, add the distribution list.
*Type your message and click Send.

Go to http://bit.ly/nvG6aO for more details.
